Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Petaltide ("the App", "we", "us", or "our") collects, stores, and handles information related to your focus sessions and app usage.

1. Information We Collect

Petaltide is designed to work without creating an in-app account or submitting profile information to us. Depending on how you use the App, the App may store or process:

  • focus session records, such as session start and end times, planned focus length, actual focused time, completion status, session phase, plant stage, and whether a session was interrupted while the App was in the background
  • custom preset information, such as preset titles, focus durations, break durations, sort order, and whether a preset is a built-in or custom routine
  • garden progress information, such as milestone unlocks and bloom counts
  • settings and preferences, such as your daily goal, notification settings, resume reminder setting, Live Activity preference, and onboarding state
  • subscription entitlement information returned by Apple, such as which Petaltide Premium product is active on your Apple Account
  • information you voluntarily provide if you contact us by email, such as your email address and the contents of your message

We do not ask you to create a username or password, and we do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information unless you choose to include it in a support message.

2. How We Use Information

We use this information only to operate the App and provide its features. For example, we use it to:

  • save your focus history, milestones, presets, and settings on your device
  • sync supported app data through your private iCloud storage when CloudKit is available
  • show the current timer state in Live Activities on supported devices if you enable that feature
  • schedule local notifications and resume reminders only if you opt in
  • check Apple-provided purchase and entitlement status so Premium features can be unlocked or restored
  • respond to support requests or privacy inquiries you send to us
  • comply with legal obligations when required

3. Data Storage and iCloud Sync

Petaltide stores its app data locally using SwiftData on your device.

The App is also configured to attempt private CloudKit/iCloud sync so your focus history, presets, milestone unlocks, and settings can be available across your devices that use the same Apple Account. If CloudKit is unavailable, disabled, or not signed in, Petaltide falls back to local-only storage on the device.

Petaltide does not use a developer-operated backend or in-app account system to store your focus history.

4. Notifications and Live Activities

Petaltide can schedule local notifications for session completion and paused-session resume reminders, but only after you grant notification permission and enable those features in the App.

If you enable Live Activities, the App may display current session information, such as the active phase, remaining time, and plant progress, on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island on supported Apple devices.

Petaltide uses Apple system frameworks for these features. We do not use them for advertising or cross-app tracking.

5. Premium Subscriptions and Apple Payments

Petaltide Premium subscriptions are offered through Apple's App Store and StoreKit services.

Apple processes the payment transaction and manages the payment method associated with your Apple Account. We do not receive your full payment card number or other full payment credentials from Apple.

To unlock Premium features, the App receives transaction and entitlement information from Apple, such as product identifiers, subscription status, and whether purchases can be restored on your device.

6. Data Sharing and Third-Party Services

We do not sell your personal information, and Petaltide does not include third-party advertising SDKs.

Based on the current codebase, Petaltide also does not include third-party analytics SDKs or third-party crash reporting SDKs.

Petaltide relies on Apple services to provide app functionality, including:

  • CloudKit and iCloud for optional private sync
  • StoreKit and the App Store for subscriptions, purchases, and restore flows
  • UserNotifications for local alerts and resume reminders
  • ActivityKit and WidgetKit for Live Activities

Those Apple services may process limited data according to Apple's own terms and privacy practices. We may also disclose information if required by law or if reasonably necessary to protect our rights, users, or the App.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

Petaltide keeps your locally stored app data until you delete it, remove the App and its data from your device, or replace it with new data during normal use.

Focus history can be cleared in the App. Other app data, such as presets and settings, may remain on your device or in your private iCloud storage until you remove that data, remove the App, or Apple completes deletion of synced iCloud copies associated with your account.

Support emails are retained only for as long as reasonably needed to respond to you, maintain support records, or comply with legal obligations.

8. Your Choices and Rights

Because Petaltide does not maintain a separate in-app account database, many privacy choices can be exercised directly on your device or through your Apple Account settings.

  • you can control notification permission in iOS settings and turn session alerts or resume reminders on or off in the App
  • you can control whether Live Activities are enabled in the App
  • you can manage App Store subscriptions and billing through Apple
  • you can manage iCloud usage through your Apple Account and device settings

9. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect information processed through the App. However, no method of device storage, cloud storage, or transmission is completely secure.

10. Children's Privacy

Petaltide is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
